SUD-SOLIDAIRES
The left-leaning alternative French SUD-Unions (Solidaires, Unitaires, Democratiques) have emerged from the big strikes in 1988 and 1995 as splinter groups from the union CFDT. They pursue a battlesome policy and deny the idea of a co-management in social partnership. Together with other unions the SUD-Unions form the association "Union syndicale-Solidaires". "Solidaires" has 30 member unions and about 90.000 personal members. By using methods such as rotation and democratical decision making, both the SUD and the "Solidaires" try to avoid a bureaucracy of full-time unionists.
